I've become good friends with Dan Antonielli, formerly of Prodrive USA. He's the man behind the Prodrive springs, and he tells me that they are a progressive spring for sure. He keeps the spring rates a closely-guarded secret. The Prodrives are indeed made by Eibach, but there's a key difference here. Eibach as a company unilaterally simply takes a car's stock spring rate and increases it by 25%, then gives it a little bit of a drop. Other than making sure the springs fit, there isn't really much, if at all, R&D behind seeing if the arbitrary 25% increase in spring rate coupled with the drop will actually improve handling. Prodrive (and now Dan's new company, Epic Engineering) on the other hand, actually tests their springs not just on the track, but also on street driven cars to ensure they're exactly what they want and will perform they want them to as well.

I myself have an Eibach Pro-Kit on my 08 STI. While the drop is nice, the reason we initially went with the Eibachs was the simple fact that we were going to put on some new wheels, and we needed a drop so that the car wouldn't look like a 4x4. After driving around on these springs for a few months now, I've come to see where the faults are. The daily drive is comfortable, but once you put the car into a tight turn, they're actually pretty soft and there's still quite a bit of body roll. When going over potholes and bumps, it actually feels a bit rough, which can probably be attributed to a lack of aftermarket bump stops (which are provided with Prodrive springs). Also, when accelerating, the car lunges backward more than they did with the stock springs, which tells me the Eibachs might be a little too soft in the rear.
