Loeb pritiska kot nor, v 15. etapi je Gronholm zletel s ceste (kar ga je stalo 10 sekund), a stari Finec se ne da. Tudi Solberg pritiska, saj je imel v zadnji (19) etapi drugi čas (+00.3 za Gronholmom; Loeb +03.1)); tudi njemu 15. etapa ni bil naklonjena, saj so se spet pojavile težave z zavorami;
Zaenkrat kar dobro

Quotes from service after SS15
02 September 2006
Chris Atkinson: "Overall, it was a good morning. Sure, we are a bit off the pace of the leading guys, but we're continuing to press on and hopefully we'll get up there soon. We went a bit wide on one corner in SS14 and went off the road into a ditch and had to keep the power down to get it out. One side of the car's a bit differently styled now! But, for sure, we're trying and it's certainly not easy out there!"
Toshi Arai: "Not so good this morning. I had a brake problem that caused me to spin and stop the engine. I had to be very, very careful to drive the car. I made some changes to the balance and the car seems to be a little better."
Petter Solberg: "It's been a frustrating morning. We've had a couple of problems, firstly with choosing a tyre that is a bit hard and then with the centre diff that affect the handling quite a lot. We're going to change a few things and see what we can go and do this afternoon."

Danes je bil dober dan; vse tri Impreze še vozijo
Jutri (zadnji dan) jih čaka 93 kilometrov (6 etap); upajmo da ne bo šlo kaj po zlu.

"We’ve taken encouragement today in Chris’ strong progress up the leaderboard to fourth position and the two second-quickest times that Petter has been able to set this afternoon. Toshi Arai has also driven well and continues to get experience of the Impreza World Rally Car. Of course we are still disappointed with the technical problems that the drivers have endured on the rally and we have much work to do to ensure our cars perform consistently well and enable us to be fully competitive.”
Chris Atkinson
“It’s been a good day. We made up a couple of spots and now we’ve got a bit of a gap over Stohl, which is exactly what we wanted to do. We had a few scratches this morning when we took a few chances, but this afternoon I took it pretty easy. We took a good choice of tyres that was a pretty safe option and tomorrow we’ll judge the pace and drive accordingly.”
Petter Solberg
“We’ve been able to split Marcus and Sebastien which is very pleasing, but on the other hand it’s been quite tough as we lost so much time previously. We’ve made quite a few changes to the car and it has improved a lot and we have been able to be competitive. Tomorrow I hope to catch Sordo, but I’m not thinking too much about that as I am driving for all the fans.”
Toshi Arai
“I had a big moment today when I hit a very, very big rock and went off the road on SS16. We got back on the road and continued but after I found out that I hit a photographer, a friend of mine, Naoki Kobayashi. He was okay and even sent me a message to say good luck and continue! I hope to see him out on the stages again very soon!”
Mario Isola, Pirelli Competizioni Rally Manager
“We are happy today as the performance by Petter and Chris is good. Unfortunately much time was lost yesterday and we cannot get that all back today, however Petter was very fast, as the leading drivers were fighting, so we are happy.

Komentarji SWRTja:
Subaru World Rally Team managing director, Richard Taylor
"We came to Japan with the target of achieving a podium and we have missed that, so clearly we are not satisfied. However all our drivers put in strong performances with Chris missing the podium by just one place and Toshi did a very good job in his return to the team. Petter was unfortunate to suffer most from the car problems but was very competitive when the car ran well. We have to keep working very hard to resolve the technical issues that have prevented us achieving our objectives. From here the team will redouble the effort back at the factory and in Japan to ensure that we can again consistently compete at the top of the leaderboard and win events.”
Chris Atkinson
“It’s been a tough weekend for everyone, to get to the finish and give the fans something. Today we had a clean run with no major problems as all I had to do was cruise through the day and take a bit more time off Manfred. The result is the best we could have hoped for coming into the rally. For sure we are driving better than ever and certainly more consistently, getting mostly top five stage times.”
Toshi Arai
“Generally not so bad throughout the rally. Yes, we had a few problems but I am pleased to get as good a finish as this as I had to learn the World Rally Car and now feel that I know it quite well. I also got used to the car speed and it felt quite comfortable. I wanted to thank Subaru for this opportunity and hope maybe that we can do it again.”
Petter Solberg
“We watched the battle at the top of the rally and I wish I was involved. I can’t wait to get back into those fights again, but for now we have some problems and we need to work together as a team to find the solutions. It’s difficult not just for me, but everyone. There’s a lot of hard work from all of us to be done and I hope that at the next event we can be getting a bit closer.”
Mario Isola, Pirelli Competizioni Rally Manager
“I hope the Subaru's staff can solve quickly the mechanical problems of the car to achieve a good reliability. We will continue to work and to develop our product to provide Subaru the best performing tyre we can. Now we have to concentrate for Cyprus and rest of the season.”
