Rally Argentina Review
After three days of competition, the Subaru World Rally Team concluded a successful Rally Argentina with a double-points finish for Petter Solberg and Chris Atkinson.

Petter had again demonstrated the Impreza WRC2006’s competitive pace on gravel. After recording fastest times on six of the rally’s 21 stages, he finished Rally Argentina in second place. On his way to securing his second podium of the season, he set the fastest time through one of the toughest tests in the World Rally Championship, the classic El Condor pass on Leg three.

Meanwhile, Petter’s Australian team-mate Chris Atkinson, drove consistently throughout the rally to record two top five times to finish sixth, on only his second Rally Argentina appearance.

At the close of the rally, SWRT Sporting Director, Luis Moya said; “I think it’s been a good weekend. We got two cars to the end and some good points for Petter in the Drivers’ Championship. One of the most important things for me was the reliability of the cars. You know, we had no major problems whatsoever in the whole event and that’s what we’re looking for. We’re going to two very tough rallies now in Italy and Greece, they’re going to be very hard and this result encourages the team a lot. I’m also pleased with the work that Pirelli has done, the tyres have been working very well in tricky conditions – particularly on the second day. We’ve proved now that we have the speed on this surface and I see no reason why we can’t win the next two events – that’s our goal.”

Remember when.....
In Sardinia 2004, Petter Solberg and co-driver Phil Mills took victory on the rally to claim their third consecutive WRC win of the season. Leading the inaugural event from the outset, the pair were fastest on 13 of the rally's 19 stages and finished 2 minutes 7.9 seconds ahead of second placed Sebastien Loeb. Success on Pirelli's home event was the third consecutive 'local' win for the team, following victories in Japan, the home of Subaru, and Great Britain, where the team is based. The result also marked Subaru's 44th WRC victory and its 43rd with the Impreza.
